Better Winter Carp Fishing Results Using Well Proven Bait Tips!

Get the best out of your bait in winter and maximise the money you spend on it! These are a handful of very well proven expert tips to help you catch more winter and spring fish. Discover more now!

Carp do not digest bait very well in colder conditions so it is extremely vital you design and select your baits and ground baits for exactly this situation to maximise your greatest chances of bites and literally in effect stop actually wasting good money on bait! Of course one way to do this is use as little bait as possible, but this is only part of the solution and does not maximise your chances because you will not necessarily be applying bait and baiting in the optimum ways possible for best results. Many anglers will choose to utilise water-soluble PVA products in combination with whole or crushed boilies, yet you still have to pay for the PVA of course, however it baits-up exactly where your hook bait is, so drawing most attention to it without filling fish up.

The choice of bait these days means you need never worry about over-feeding fish but you need to know what will and will not over-feed fish in the first place and this requires some know-how. In general you need to avoid bulk oils and un-winterised oils in baits and avoid using too much free bait that takes a long time to break down in water. after all, if a bait is not very soluble it is likely to take much more energy and time for carp to digest it and this is something to very definitely bear in mind! Proteins are much better if they have at least been part-digested and fermented shrimp powder, whey protein concentrate, predigested yeast powder and enzyme-treated yeast powders for example are very well proven.

Of course you can apply as many various baits in your attack as you like, from readymade ground baits, to maggots, to hemp, to various crushed boilies and soluble carp pellets and so on, all in conjunction with PVA products and methods (and specialised bait feeding cages and droppers etc. Ground bait application is the art and skill that is a genuine cornerstone of successful carp fishing so it is absolutely essential especially in winter to do it to suit the situation and conditions taking into account all the possible variables that may challenge your fishing. Ground baiting for some carp anglers might mean launching spods of pellets or hemp or slop or method mix etc, instead of just firing out whole baits; which may well fill carp up too fast and bread is a very useful ground bait base often over-looked.

If you choose to exploit bread in winter and spring you will find it is not necessarily a small fish ground bait base; in fact far from it! In the coldest of nights you can get bites from big carp over bread-based ground baits and of course, know fish are gorging on free bait very little without actually sampling your hook baits with this method. Boilies in standard bottom bait, or pop-up bait or critically-balanced form etc all are reliable hook baits and always will be.

Increase your bite rate by improving the effective addtives and ingredients in your baits and ground baits that induce more sampling of hook baits having not fed fish up on free baits first! Water-solubility and digestible potential of your baits is paramount. Pellets and boilies made with little oil as possible (that make baits less digestible and less effective in cold water) are very highly recommended!

Many forms of popular pellets substantially lose their edge in winter owing to their high oil levels, including the halibut pellets and others which are designed as commercial feeds for fish with comparatively higher dietary lipid requirements. Pellets with low oil levels and wheatgerm are great for winter and spring carp fishing and you will normally get far more bites in the long-run fishing over such digestible free ground baits than over ordinary high oil halibut pellets for example. As oil is pretty much insoluble in water low oil pellets and boilies are much more able to draw fish towards your baited area as more water soluble attraction is dispersed more effectively in low water temperatures.

Robin Red is one of those famous winter bait and ground bait additives you can adapt and apply to almost anything just by mixing it into a mix or adding water or almost any liquid. Red Factor, Red Band, crushed hemp, Insecto Insecivorous, Nectar Blend and other mixtures such as Meggablend, Ccmoores Meggablend Red and Meggablend sweet are excellent as are yeast products and Phillips Yeast Mixture in winter baits. Essential oils and lecithins work their magic too and some are mostly under-dosed, while others are often over-dosed, so take the effort to discover correct levels!

If you add a liquid to your boilies and pellets for whatever period you choose whether long or short, you can raise the water-soluble proportion of your baits making them far more effective. Baits like particles, boilies, pellets etc all benefit from glugs, dips and so on, and so do fake and live baits such as maggots. These tips are just a sample taster to give you a perspective on the importance of you bait choices and the seriously important free bait application methods and ground bait formats you might select; preferably you will try to stimulate as many carp senses as possible at this time by gathering as many tips to help you as possible!

In winter and spring you get what you work for so to guarantee you save yourself money in wasted bait and on wasted blank trips, think about your carp senses-related issues around your hook bait and ground bait effectiveness and it will pay you back big-time; so read on…

Stink Bait Recipies – Different Stinkbait Recipies for Catching Catfish

The catfish is a unique species of fish with prominent barbells that gives them the appearance of whiskers, which is what earned them the name catfish. They also have spines on their dorsal fins which may cause a lot of pain if you are stuck by one, depending on the type of catfish you are catching. Despite this fact, catfish are one of the most sought after species around and anglers will travel for miles to find a good fishing spot in which to catch them.

There are many different methods available when it comes to fishing for catfish but there’s nothing quite like using the right stink bait recipe to get the perfect catfish. If you’re looking for a stink bait that has those catfish practically jumping into your lap, here are some great ideas.

Sardine Bait Mix – Sardine bait mix is made with flour, water, sardines in oil, salt, tropical fish food and cream of tartar. Mix up all the ingredients in a pan and simmer until it becomes thick and hard to stir. Next, you need to remove the mixture from the heat and allow it to cool by spreading it out ontoe the mixture has dissolved spread it out on the aluminum foil and cut into cubes while it is still warm.

Blood Bait Mix – Blood bait mix is made up of flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, chicken blood, cheese cloth and strawberry jell-o. Combine these ingredients and then roll them up into ops. Combine all the ingredients together with the exception of the coco pops until the mixture is stiff enough to form a ball. When you are ready to use the mixture you need to place the coco pop onto the hook and squish the bait around it into a ball.

Catfish and Carp Hotdog Bait Mix Catfish and Carp Stink Bait Mix – With this bait you will need nightcrawlers, flour, frozen bread dough, sour cream, beef livers and garlic powder. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and kneed them together.

There are other recipes available and many anglers have designed their own special concoction that works wonderfully. All stink bait should be kept in an air tight marked container until ready to use. This will keep it fresher so you can get the full benefits from the bait. It’s the strong odor that draws the catfish to your bait. Experienced anglers have learned they can have a lot of success when using stink baits. In fact, many have doubled the number of fish they can reel in during each fishing trip.

Making -using Sausage Meat for Big Fish!

Sausage meat is now part of carp and cat fishing history having proven its worth as a very effective cheap bait ingredient for small and big fish (many thousands of times, and for decades.) But how do you make effective baits and ground baits using it? Let’s see a few very proven big fish suggestions right now…The first ideal part about sausage meat is how cheap and easily available it is. It comes in various forms and grades and as usual it is best to get the freshest product possible. This kind of meat is just not fashionable today which means right now is a perfect time to be exploiting it! The second is it very simple and easy to use and you can either mince it up or use the minced product for more details you can login to www.newbies-guide-to-making-software.com The nutritional value of pork sausage meat is very stimulatory to both carp and catfish and has a fair proportion of those important fish stimulators; amino acids and oils. Pork sausage meat is often made with bread crumbs and it is very simple to make bait by simply mixing it with eggs and very cheap wheat flour to help bind it up into a dough. How to make one of the cheapest protein based baits: For example, using half a pound of minced sausage meat, mix it in a bowl with about 3 large hens eggs and 2 table spoons of ordinary cheap wheat flour (or more if required) and kneed this into a stiff pliable dough.

This can be used as fishing bait immediately as paste or you can bag it up in bags with a tie to make the bag air tight and store in the fridge or freeze it for use next session. This bait is pretty much instant on most carp and catfish waters and although very basic and simple will produce lots of fish. Like the majority of carp and catfish baits, the best way to start fishing with it is to feed perhaps 2 to 6 pounds of it into your swim in advance. (This is certainly not absolutely necessary however!) For instance, over a period of 3 days prior to fishing, start introducing paste pieces about an inch in diameter just by pulling them off your balls of dough you have made. The effect of pre-baiting is that the fish will be far more prepared to eat your bait with even more enthusiasm when you start actually fishing; so hold onto your rod! Sausage meat in this form makes fantastic ground baits too. Fishing paste balls has always been extremely effective, but these days you might prefer to make your baits more resilient to smaller fish so they are still intact when the big ones arrive! All you need to do is make your baits about an inch in size and they don’t need to be perfectly round either; in fact the more different to commercially produced machine rolled baits the better the effect!

Just put on a pan of boiling water (half-filled) and get some absorbent paper towels or convenient towels flat and ready to receive your boiled baits to dry upon. Just add about a handful of baits at a time and keep the water boiling at all times. Boil your baits for anything from a minute to 5 minutes; the longer boiling makes them harder, but this loses more attraction in the process. To help attraction there are so many choices to add to your bait, or just to keep results coming or go to www.instant-software-products.com For instance you could add sea salt at about a heaped teaspoon per 2 eggs worth of bait mixed, or add curry powder at a heaped teaspoonful per egg used in the mix or more depending on the form of curry powder used. You might just add a teaspoon of black pepper powder per egg used. Other examples of well proven kitchen favorites are yeast extract products like Marmite or vegemite; add at a heaped tablespoon per egg, or even Parmesan or blue cheese. The fact is that there are thousands of additives, liquids, flavors and some very refined and advanced bait ingredients and extracts you could use.

Fly Fishing – With The Right Equipment And Technique It Is The Most Enjoyable Sport

Fly fishing is a water sport and a very different fishing technique used to catch big game fish. The sport of fishing is also known as ‘angling’. Salmon and trout are the popular fish that are sought by anglers of fly fishing. In recent times other species of fish such as Bass, carp and pike have been added to the list of game fish that fly fishermen seek the world over. Fly fishing is believed to have originated in Macedonia in the 2nd century and has now become a popular sport among the European and American fishing community.

Fly fishermen have developed many different lures to attract the game they seek. They have also developed ways to cast and reel in the lure to hook the game that more often than not gets fooled into biting. Some of the lures that are popular among fly fishermen include:

1. Emerges and dry flies, these include stone flies and midgets.
2. Nymphs such as Mayflies and worms.
3. Streamers wet flies such as buggers and leeches.
4. Saltwater flies such as marlin and sail fish
5. Bass and Panfish flies examples are crawfish and eels

It is important to have the proper gear for fly fishing. The most important gear is the fly fishing rod. This piece of equipment may vary from 6 feet in length to 12 feet. The fly rod must match the weight of the fly line. A mismatched fly rod with the wrong weight line will result in improper casting and will ruin the whole exercise. The length of the rod itself is determined by the type of fish the angler is going after the bigger the fish the larger the rod and heavier the line.

The babboo split cane is a popular fly fishing rod. This rod is made by splitting the bamboo into four lengths and gluing it together again over a solid core. Freshwater trout fishing is a fly fishing sport that demands this kind of bamboo rod for success. Synthetic fly fishing rods are making their presence known; however, the die-hard fly angler will stick to the traditional bamboo fly rod and tackle.

The line of the bamboo rod is usually made out of horse’s hair. This line needs to be regularly dried or it will rot. The silk line used for fly fishing has the same requirement. However, these days the synthetic nylon line is the best suited for fly fishing as the line is stronger and lighter than the traditional fly fishing line.

Fishing Tips: How to Find Fish

Catching fish is easier to do when you know where they are. In this article on fishing tips we will give you some pointers to help you understand where fish live.

Fish are going to be everywhere there are water, food, oxygen, and protection. However there are different types of fish and they all live in different types of water. They all need different amounts of oxygen, salt, amounts of food, different water temperatures, in different areas to hide.

Salt is a particularly distinguishing characteristic for fish. Some fish prefer to be where there is a lot of salt why others do not want any salt at all. Some fish must have salt to survive while others are more of a freshwater type of fish.

North America is particularly known for the amount of fresh water lakes and ponds and streams. This is where you will catch carp, bass, bluegill, catfish, and other types of fish.

The opposite would be a fish that prefers salty water like you find in an ocean. Common types of fish you will find in salt water include cod, flounder, bluefish, trout, and tuna.

Oxygen is an important factor when it comes to the type of fish you will find. All fish need a certain amount of oxygen to survive. Trout for example need a larger amount of oxygen to survive. Anywhere there are lots of plants you will find higher levels of oxygen.

Some fish need more food to survive. Certain bodies of water will have more food than others and the types of food available vary as well. All fish need to eat and the amount of competition for the food affects the type of fish in that particular area.

Water temperatures vary and this determines the type of fish you will find as well. Some fish are more flexible than others and can live in a wide range of temperatures.

Other fish need either particularly warm or cold water to survive. Trout for example will only be found in cold water. If you are looking for a certain type of fish you need to learn about the type of water it prefers before fishing in that area.

Another factor that humans can directly impact is the quality of the water. Keeping it unpolluted is important and most fish need good water to survive.

This is a few fishing tips on how to find where fish are living. As you can see there are several factors including salt, oxygen, temperature, food, and the quality of water that all come into play.

Fly Fishing Apparatus

Fly fishing isn’t just a normal way of fishing because it uses specific tools to catch fish. . The most common associated fish caught with fly fishing tackles is trout and salmon, however pike, bass and carp are being caught as well.

The basic apparatus in fly fishing is the fly rod, fly line, artificial fly line and fly reel. Each part of the tackle has its own vita role in catching fish. First is the fly rod which is used to cast the fly line. The length will vary between 7 to 10 feet depending on the environment where you are fishing. Usually, fly rod are made from graphite and fibreglass and in some cases bamboo. By using other materials, the fly rod will become lighter or heavier and it may also become stiff or bendy. Therefore, follow the intended materials for ht fly rod to work perfectly.

Another part is the fly line which is a plastic coated line that can be found in variety of thickness. They also range in color but usually, bright colored fly line is used to attract the prey that is intended to be caught.

Now let’s go to the major part of the fishing tackle which is the artificial flies. They are made by tying hair, feathers, fur and other natural and synthetic materials onto a hook. Artificial flies range from bright lively colours in order to stand out, or darker colours to match the environment.

Another important part of the tackle is the fly reel. This one is used to hold the fly fishing line. The fish caught depends entirely on the kind of reel used. For bigger fishes, one should consider thicker lines and gears while for smaller fishes, a manual reel can be used.

Fishing In Essex

With lakes, ponds and rivers with many tributaries or even the odd reservoir with fish such as carp, perch and roach and a large coast line bordering the North Sea, you can see why Essex is the perfect county to consider when planning a relaxing and pleasurable fishing trip.

The Rivers Chelmer & Blackwater running through the town of Chelmsford are a known angler’s hotspot for their course Fishing in Essex. Although often known as ‘The Canal’, the Chelmer & Blackwater are for most of their length classed as canalised rivers and as such are subject to the closed season regulated by the Environment Agency, from whom a rod licence is required to fish the waterways. Species caught here include roach, bream, tench, chub, perch, pike, dace, barbell and carp to over 30 lbs.

If the challenge of the sea is more to your liking, you can find a wide range of charter boats offering angling trips from the many ports along the Essex coast. Professional skippers will take either individual fishermen or groups of sea anglers on all day fishing trips to fish for bass, cod, plaice, conger eels, shark and many other species of fish found around the cost of Great Britain.

Back on dry land you will find that Hanningfield Reservoir, built in the 1950s, offers some of the most picturesque Fishing in Essex. The reservoir is the second largest in Essex and when full holds approximately 26,075 million litres of water. The reservoir stocks 50,000 fish each year and the record for the biggest fish caught to date stands at 24lb 1oz and was landed by John Hammond in 1998. Hanningfield reservoir is also a great place to fish for rainbow trout, which are regularly stocked.

Turn off the A12 at Kelvedon and follow the signs to Tiptree and you will discover Brookhall Lake. This 50 peg, 4 acre site situated in the beautiful Essex countryside is heavily stocked with bream, carp, tench and roach. The venues match record was recently broken in a club match with 252lb of carp to 14lb from peg 30.

So if you are considering Fishing in Essex, we think you will find our counties waterways have enough diversity to challenge anyone, from the amateur angler to club matchmen and even the “speci” boys.

Fly Fishing for Beginners

You take the time to get into just the right location in that great stream that your friend told you about. You have been waiting for so long to enjoy this time, alone, fishing to your heart’s content. There are many amazing moments in life but fly fishing is one of your favorite. You’ll get into the waders, getting into just that right location so that you can cast.

The tip of your rod should be in the four o’ clock position with 20 feet (6 meters) of line extended beyond your rod’s tip. Trap the line between the rod handle and your index finger. To begin the back cast, bend your elbow, raise your forearm and move the rod tip from four o’clock to eleven thirty and lift the line from the water. Pause for a moment at this point to allow the line to extend behind you before casting the rod forward. Allow the rod to follow through as the line extends to its full length in front of you. Then continue to work the line in this manner. A fish strikes. The fight is on and you successfully land the fish. This is fly casting.

Fly fishing is an old method of angling. It was primarily developed to catch trout and salmon. Today, it is still used to fish these species, but is also used to catch bass, carp, pike and a wide range of saltwater fish. The difference between casting and fly fishing is that in casting you use the weight of your bait, sinker and bobber to propel your cast. In fly fishing, the weight of the line propels your line forward and puts your fly into position. The fly cannot do this, as it is essentially weightless. The goal in fly fishing is to present the fly gently and to always be in control of it.

When you fly fish, you need special fishing equipment that includes a fly rod and reel, a special fly fishing line and artificial or live flies. These are tied onto your hook with feathers, fur, thread or other materials in colors and sizes that represent natural prey. The key to successful fly fishing is balance. The rod, reel and line, as well as the tippet all have to match in order to have a positive fly fishing experience.

Rod, Reels and Lines
Fly fishing rods are lightweight and long. The line provides the casting weight and is heavy. It can be of differing density, depending on whether you want the fly to sink or float. Line is matched to your rod by weight. Look near the fly rod butt to find out what line weight must be used. Graphite rods are best because they can produce any action that you wish to use. If you are a beginner, buy a basic and moderately priced rod, or borrow one from a family member or friend.

Flies and Leaders
Flies weigh very little. The fly is usually attached to the line by a leader that is two to three meters in length (6 to 9 feet). The leader often tapers to a fine end. This is called a tippet. Tippet size range from 8X, which is the smallest, to 0X, which is the largest. Tippets are set in units of .001 inches. To match the tippet to the fly, you must subtract from eleven and multiply by .001.

For example to find the diameter of a 4X tippet, you would subtract four from eleven. That equals seven. Now, multiply by .001. This size would be .007. What if you have a # 18 fly? How would you calculate tippet size? You would put eighteen over four and calculate. The answer would be 4.5. Since there is no 4.5 X tippet, you would move to the next largest size, which would be 5.

Types of Fly Fishing
There are two types of fly fishing – dry and wet. Wet flies are fished beneath the water surface and are divided into several types, including live wet flies, lures and nymphs. Dry flies float on the water surface and are coated with a substance called, ‘floatant’ to make this possible.

If you are interested in fly fishing and can’t decide which equipment you need to have a positive fishing experience, ask an experienced angler for help. This can be a family member, friend, someone from the local angler’s club or a staff member of the local fly fishing shop. Fly fishing is not as hard to learn as it appears to be. Have fun and enjoy that big catch.

The best way to enjoy your catch is to take the time to enjoy the many wonders that the fishing experience offers. No matter what that first adventure turns out to be, you can make it amazing by spending some time learning the skills from an experienced fisherman.
